Social Development Department Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her guidance and motivation to improving South African Social Security Company (SASSA) companies through an engagement along with the company's senior managers in a strategic scheduling session in Cape Town.
Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the various social grant beneficiaries, who excelled while in the 2024 matric exams.
From the 724 156 full-time learners who registered with the National Senior Certification (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, representing eighty one% from the registered pupils in the instruction sector.
These learners attained a commendable pass rate of 86%.
"This means that the investment national government is earning during the life of inadequate and susceptible kids is yielding a beneficial impact in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe explained.
Reflecting on latest achievements, the Minister highlighted vital milestones and ongoing priorities. She committed to urgently addressing the issue of everlasting Management appointments as well as shortage of staff at most local places of work.
Moreover, the Minister highlighted the need for community-based engagements and outreach activities.
"Our Group is waiting for our huge intensification of Group outreach, wherever we prioritise underserved parts to deliver providers closer to our individuals," she reiterated.
With regards to SASSA devices, Tolashe urged administration to prioritise increasing and modernising programs to improve accessibility, queue administration and forestall fraud.
